The inspiration for the design is Kikugetsu-tei in Ritsurin Park, Takamatsu.

The modular order is considered to be perfection of the type.  Built in the Edo era - the eleventh century.  The main structural beams were erected on September 11, 2001, the day the World Trade Towers came crashing down.
